I Didn'T

I didn't see you smile today
So the sun forgot to shine
Your the reason the sun came up
Since the day I made you mine

I didn't hear you laugh today
So the world was an empty place
Your laugh was filled with honesty
And defined by simple grace

I didn't feel your touch today
So I truly felt alone
A single heartbeat where once was two
A silence I've never known

I didn't hear your voice today
So the music could not play
Your voice was like a symphony
That caused my soul to sway

I didn't say goodbye today
When they laid you in the grave
I'll miss the you that once was us
And all the love you gave

Larry, this eloquently describes the pain of losing a lifelong partner. Actually gave me tears thinking of my late husband. This is the last one I'll be reading for a while. Grief still strikes now and then even though it's been so long. I hope you haven't truly experienced such a loss and my heart goes out to you if you have. Love and blessings, Carolyn
