I Did Not Anticipate Aging In Advance

Heartburn riled me up smartly, Woke me up and slammed me on the floor Before acid reflux could … Oops. Too late! I ran for the bathroom. Arthritis laughed and made my feet whimper It felt like I had broken both my ankles. Must be raining today, I guessed As I wretched in the toilet Eyes joined my face in the mirror You are pathetic, eyes said, noting my oldness. Falling apart bit by bit, inch by inch, day by day, Aging is something I did not anticipate in advance.

It is amazing to me when I step down and feel I have broken both ankles, sure of it, but when I go to the doctor they remind me of the arthritis in my feet!
