I remember our first encounter I didn't like you much, But you made me feel so special I soon longed for your touch. I'd press my lips against you. You could take my breath away. And faster than I could imagine I knew you were here to stay. You were with me in the morning and stayed with me all night, The two of us were inseparable you were never far from sight. I just couldn't live without you I had to have you day and night, Your hold on me was much too strong and I knew it wasn't right. But I could never give you up though time and time I tried, I'd find myself drawn back to you by a burning deep inside. I should have stayed away from you should have listened to my friends, When they said that you would be ... the death of me. But no matter what they told me their words fell on deaf ears, I knew I couldn't give you up not after all these years. And yes you'll be the death of me I'll soon take my last breath, I'm dying with my lungs full of cancer because of you ......... My cigarette. <<< Cal Bambi "The word artist" ©riginal >>> I paint pictures with words. calbambi@gmail.com

I'm really enjoying your writing, this one is special, my sister died of lung cancer, couldn't get a lung replacement because she wouldn't stop smoking, now she's gone...very touching poem!
