I Could

I could shed rags for an emperor's robe I could climb mountains to escape the sea I could circumnavigate the globe But there's no escaping The me of me.

One more visit for good measure from Wolfman here: As for the title -- The only thing that comes to me is "No Escape," which is a bit trite, although not forced in any way. Reg. "I Could:" You know, it works, and it's what Emily Dickinson, THE incomparable Emily Dickinson, did with many of her poems. She just used the first two or three words. Examples: "Fame is a Bee," and "I'm Nobody."...I'm out of thoughts...Good luck with everything, Michelle. :) gw

This 'wolf in sheep's clothing' is back for another view of this one, which he finds so profound and thought-provoking. So, I was viewing the poem, coming to the last line, when I got distracted---and I saw this: 'The eye of me,' instead of 'The me of me.' Food for thought....Once again, with feeling: I love this poem! :) gw

Well since we're sharing - the original last line was 'there's no escaping being me' - but I did not like 'being me' - it felt too cliched and bland. So I tinkered with it and came up with 'the me of me'. I like your line though! Also I don't really like the title - maybe you could think of a better one?

Ah, yes, "the me of me." Very good: There is no escaping, is there?...Acceptance is the best stage of life, methinks. Nice message!! :)
