I Climb

My shoes go climbing up a tree;
Inside, my feet hold on to me.
And so I climb, I go up, too;
Nothing else that I can do.

One hand goes reaching limb to limb;
One arm goes stretching after him.
And so I climb, I go up, too;
Nothing else that I can do.

An ear is pressed against the sky,
A brush of hair, a winking eye.
And so I climb, I go up, too;
Nothing else that I can do.

My chin and shoulders, body, all,
Are swaying on the tree so tall.
And so I shout, "Oh Mom, yoo-hoo!
Nothing else that I can do!"

For a kid that lived in the trees I totally understand, and at times miss the view. Laurie
