I Choose My Time Wisely

Sometimes our time is worth more than the challenge,
the invitation, the party, the company.
This was one of those times.
You can do it, my family said.

Yes, I know I could
If I wanted to spend time on a challenge or a person
Or a group of people of whom I care not a whit.
There would have been a time I would have spent
Four or five miserable hours doing this,
Proving myself to those who care not a bit.

However I am older now.
I choose to spend my time wisely
Doing things I want and challenges that are interesting or fun.
This party and competition is neither for me,
So even though I could,

I choose to not, retaining my time.
And feeling gleefully great in choosing me over the
Infamous them.

You've got to love yourself before you can expect anyone else to and you are the queen of your time. Well done.

great choice, caren! one of the advantages of getting older - not giving a damn what other people think!

It does seem to take a certain amount of "seasoning" to get fully over that "people-pleasing" junk.

So true Caren, as we get older we get wiser and do things WE want to do. Tom.

I am so stingy with my time, I do not have room for guilt or anything else; because I know honoring me is the honorable thing to do.
