I Cannot Live Without Me
In the quiet of my mind a voice speaks to me.
So quiet, a whisper, soft and gently pleading.
I'm with you, it says. I've been here the whole time.
So come, come with me, place your hand in mine.
I shake the voice off, unsure of what it was.
It felt like a stranger giving my mind a hug.
I'm no stranger, the voice laughs. You silly, I'm you!
I figure it's time you became a friend to you.
Always you're there to be comfort to your friends.
You stand by them, always, through thick or thin.
You think that without them, you wouldn't be anything.
You believe that alone, your life's without meaning.
But that is so far from what is the truth.
Your friends would agree with that, too.
Your heart is precious, and bigger than the moon.
You are capable of love to fill a thousand rooms.
So, as was said, I figure it's time.
You must be a friend to you.
Because if all is lost, and there's no one around, remember one thing.
You cannot live without you.
I sat there, stunned, unsure what to say, and
For a moment I wished that voice would go away.
But the more I thought, the more I agreed.
Without me, I can't help my friends in need.
As crazy as it sounds, if any of it makes sense..
I have to agree. I cannot live without me.
