I Can See Again

In the world of today
Love seemed to exist only in fairy tales
The world had become so dark and lonely
Every direction I saw only black and gray
Light and warmth seemed a distant memory
I had been through so much pain and suffering
I had lost all hope of ever finding love
I was ready to give up
Until the day she entered my life
At first I was blinded by the light and beauty
For my eyes were accustomed to darkness
I was mesmerized by this beautiful woman
I thought she was an angel from above
For her beauty was too great
In an angelic voice she spoke to me
She told me of her own pain and suffering
But that she had not given up on love
Then she ever so gently caressed my cheek
And I felt a warmth spread throughout my body
A feeling I thought was lost forever
Ever so softly she kissed my lips
I closed my eyes and tasted love
When I dared to open my eyes again
My world was colored in rainbows
Not a trace of darkness could be found
She took my hand and led the way
Where we were going
I did not know
As long as I was with her
I did not care
