I Can Be Anything

I Can Be Anything

Here in my corner
In my little chair
I can be anything...
Go anywhere.

I can be happy.
I can be sad.
I can be anything...
(Try not to be bad).

I can be rich.
I can be poor.
I can be anything...
A bird! A wild boar!

A princess who sleeps
Or loves a big beast.
I can be anything
I choose in the least.

A captain at sea.
A cat in a tree.
I can be anything
I want to be.

Live in a castle
Inside of a mote.
I can be anything...
A lion...A goat...

A horse on the planes
His mane in the wind!
I can be anything...
A monkey...A ginn...

A turtle...A crab...
A tiger...A shark!
I can be anything...
Glow in the dark!

A bat, butterfly,
Elephant, or dog.
I can be anything...
Even a hog.

A poet...A cook...
A fish in a brook.
I can be anything...
A book in a nook!

Travel the planets
In spaceships through space!
I can be anything
And go anyplace.

The Moon... or Saturn...
Jupiter and Mars!
I can go anyplace...
Even the Stars!

Magical Kingdoms
With giants! A King!
I can go anyplace...
Be anything

Here in my corner,
In my chair, you see,
I can be anything...
Even be...Me!

O Captain my Captain - let us see what those stars look like (and don't hide your 'bad' side). : ) Cheers, Doug.

What an enjoyable take on the contest, Deborah, and perfect as a children's poem! Congrats on your win.

Deborah. We can be anything we want. It is so simple and yet so hard. Congratulations, Kai

i agree with the person below, this definitely has a dr seuss flavour to it, and is an unusual angle to write from a child's perspective - congrats on your win!

A gentle song like poem that flows with a carefree beat. The words are lyrical and bounce through this poem drumming up emotions with a gentle inviting beat.
