I Came Home Again
Across those fields I came home again,
my foot fell assured
on those frozen seas of white,
again ----
That Titan-Crunch neath me,
those twinkling red lights
dazzle still, and the puffing chimneys
alight,
with certain company, good food
and bright eyes
Alive, how the horizon has nestled hopes,
snug windows of firelight ----
stars of the earth,
and the moon just aloft to make a crown;
Above the heavens gaze down,
among them those celestial spheres,
(an oft traveled dome)
Of this I am certain;
without err and pause ----
If Christ were here,
(he'd call it home)
