I Brought You Into This World
I brought you into this world
I swear, I’ll take you out!
I’ve heard those words too many times.
Words I will never shout.
Mothers and fathers issue this threat
They think it sounds so cool.
Those words left a scar in me.
How could she be so cruel?
I promised God I’d never say
Those words to my little girl.
I held her hand and held her up
Cause I brought her into this world.
My mother thinks it’s foolish
That I thought she wanted me dead.
But I was just a little girl
Who believed what her mommy said.
Whenever I hear someone say
Those awful words to a child
I ask them not to say it again.
The pain could last a while.
So when I’m talking to someone
That I brought into this world.
I promise her my very best
And thank God for Baby Girl.
