I Believe

As I sit watching the evening news
one can't help from getting the blues
all the things we have been taught were bad
now, somehow are becoming a brand new fad

cheating,lies, and greed set the stage
and, my oh my, the mess some have made
but do they own it, no, no, no
they just keep doing it, seeing how far they can go

when I was young, and I tried these things
I received  a whipping and did it sting
my grandmother was strict, she tried to live right
her favorite saying was, "I have to close my eyes at night"
