I Awake To Darkness (Part 5)

I awake and I look to the darkened sky
The spirit’s voices are beginning to fly
Through my mind and into my soul
They tell me that I’m very bold
I did not obey and took my chances
But sooner or later I know something will happen
They grow silent as I regain my pose
Rising from the ground is a single rose
I don’t know what to do and I don’t know where to go
But the spirits tell me to listen to the wind blow
I hear the brisk words of the spine chilling wind
Telling me that soon my quest will end
I cannot stand the way the spirits treat me
I say I will no longer listen because I know that I am free
I begin to walk this path and now the spirits are silent
I believe that they realize that I can now fight it
The girl begins to follow on my adventurous path
The spirits in my mind are now starting to laugh
I grasp her hand and she grasps mine
And then I tell her everything will be fine
Not knowing what will happen or even where we will go
I know that as long as she is with me her ideas will always flow
Although she can’t see what I see or even hear what I hear
I tell her that we should rest because in our dreams there’s nothing to fear
She closes her eyes and her mind begins its adventure
She has nothing to worry about because I am sleeping next to her.

You have taken the subject position, it is clear. The spirits still try to keep their hold on you, but they know they can't. They will have to choose to support or leave and the girl is at peace because she too senses the peace inside you have attained. Great story, Robert! Whether fiction or based on your dreams, these stories are very deep. Indeed I have enjoyed your writes. Thanks for sharing and thank you for your kind comments on mine. Love and blessings to you and yours. Caroline.
