I Attend to Life A Devotion of Focus and Flame
God, I choose to focus. on you I choose to Attend.
I say to self, “focus”—and that is where I begin.
I fix my gaze upon you and begin to breathe You in,
My spirit hears your whisper that stirs my soul within.
I pay attention while reading, because Your words are life,
They cut through life’s noise, they calm all of my strife.
Proverbs 4 declares it, so I know it’s true:
“They are life to those who read it and find You.”
I meditate, daily, my thoughts trace Your name,
Psalm 119 ignites my spirit, your love fuels the flame.
Your precepts directs my path; shapes my inner view,
My thoughts align, with your words and my peace renews.
I know it’s you who wakes me, before the morning light,
As Isaiah sings it—It gives me pure delight.
You teach me thru your word-how to truly hear,
To listen close and still, allowing you to draw near.
Like Mary at Your feet I desire to stay,
Luke 10 reveals the better way.
No rush, no race, no worldly spin—
Just holy focus deep within.
I inhale and attend, “I exhale and receive,”
Your presence flows in and around through every eve.
My pathways you open, my prayer Your Spirit ignites,
The Holy Spirit guides my soul to directly to your light.
I whisper truth, I trace Your word,
I let Your sacred sound be heard.
My heart is tuned, my gaze is clear,
Your wisdom whispers: “I am near.”
I fix my eyes on your holy flame,
You call me gently by my name.
In every verse, a spark appears,
And wisdom tunes my inner ears.
I walk with purpose, soul refined,
My steps are ordered, heart aligned.
I give careful thought to all your ways,
Haggai’s echo guides my days.
Let my eyes look straight ahead,
No turning back, no fear, no dread.
Like Proverbs 4:25 I claim,
My focus burns—a holy flame.
I pray others see and long to know,
The fire that makes my spirit glow.
Let jealousy provoke their cry:
“I want that gaze, that holy ‘I.’”
“I attend to life.” “I attend with love.”
“I receive. By focusing on my God above!”
