I Asked Her

There’s beauty in her eyes
As she looks up at me
I treasure the ties
That bind her to me

For I remember the day
I asked her to wed
Not knowing what she’d say
Or what would be said

But her answer was positive
Swift and so neat
She answered me logically
She was happy to meet

I love you my sweetheart
Now listen to this
To you I pledge my heart
Let us seal it with a kiss

From that day forward
I need not compete
We’ve chosen to be partners
And with her I’m complete
