I Asked God

I asked you lord for a poetry place
But you gave me this priceless paradise
I asked you for a poet, with a friendly face
But you gave me mothers…wealthy and wise

I asked you Lord for, a simple noble name
But Linda-Marie christened me African Asset
I asked you for a flawless flower and a fine frame
But Andrea gave me a gold gem…with sapphire set

I asked you Lord for just a passionate pen…
I had always wanted to write in love and light
But you inspired me and placed me… in the top ten
My rhymes and rhapsodies are the Soupers’ daily delight

…Thanks you lord for Karen, Carol, Catie, Carolyn and Constance
I am grateful I met Dane, Sue, Joyce, Audrey, Farah, and Deborah
Thank you for John 1 &2, Brian, Joe, James, Dr.Ram and their Soup fans…
Thanks you so much Lord for Yamin, nikko Sidney and my terrific Tirzah
