I Asked
I asked the Fall, Where are Thy songs?
She said that Gone with winds They all
They live with woodland nightingales
They live with larks and waterfalls
I asked the Sun, Wherest thou run?
He said , " by Hands of Callous Doom
Slipped I with stars of far off sky
And doth so silver shining Moon"
More horrid than the moonless nights
Is face of Callous heartless Doom
She comes in garb of Mirth and Glee
She dwells in damp and darkish Room
I asked the Fall , Which song thou sing
Which angels live in heart of thine
She said , " I am in ceaseless pain
With wounds of time on hearts of mine
From height I look at lakes of blood
These salty wounds entwine my rhyme "
I ask the clouds, " In flocks and crowds?
Wherest thou roam in far off land?
O tell me what thou saw in ways?
O tell me tales of wonderland!
They said the ocean Maid there weeps
In far off far off dream island!
She brought the stars from far off skies
Which fell and mixed in sandy land
She gazed with tearful eyes at world
She gazes at vast vast silver sand
O may that something we can do
O may that hold We Her soft hand"
"O go" I said , "With tales of woe
Thy heart is in the shroud of time
Whose needles are in endless flow
He rows on with the smile on lips
His lingering gaze at worldly show
