I Am Your Shadow
and post notes and photos about your poem like Edward Ibeh.
Hello, may I have your attention, please?
If you turn your back to me, I'll still tag along
I'm your loyal, faithful friend. Won't you be mine, too?
I'll never share your deepest, darkest secrets
I walk behind you, day by day; unfailingly near you
As though I'm your guardian angel
I've been tethered to you since birth; I'll die with you
I speak in a whisper too faint for you to decipher
And I keep you company in your loneliest moments
I follow your lead. I come alive, only when you do
I dissolve into oblivion; invisible in the absence of light
Is that why you don't always see me? Haven't you seen me wave at you?
I'll tell you my secret: I silhouette so you would notice me
Why? Because you have a tendency to forget I exist
If I had the tiniest sliver of a voice, and you could somehow
Hear it, I would coax you to happily dance with me
Out on a bright sunny afternoon
Just don't chase after me, you'll never catch me
Don't reach to grab me, you'll never seize me
I'm your shadow...
