I Am Woman, Loud and Proud
Plain as the eye can see through a looking glass
Yet complex with a multitude of facets surpass
I encounter beauty in the blink of an eye
Yet discount hypocrisy with noticed brevity
I am woman, loud and proud
Insistent and astute, serene yet sound
I am somewhat smug in thinking myself fortunate
Yet somehow precedent to my present was woe replete
Sheer antagonism grounded my irreversible plight
Yet renewed anticipation awarded me contentment each night
I am woman, loud and proud
Fraught with humour, yet serious in crisis
Toiling for acceptance by societies callous paradigm
I subsequently comprehended unnecessary fickle whim
So at last I lay me down to sleep
And finally have some reprieve for keeps
. . . For I am woman, loud and proud
