I Am With Me
Where am I now?
I am with me
To go down the roads, my future to see
I go with myself, that's how I must go
I don't know which one, the high or the low
The roads that I travel, will teach me I pray
Which one to follow, show me the way
I tried the low first, downhill it churned
full of hard knocks, lessons not learned
An abundance of energy, to waste on spite
Bucketfuls of hate, to throw in a fight
There were moments of shame,
I felt them inside
To feel everyday, I knew I had lied
I really didn't like the River of Pains
flowing and throbbing through all of my veins
The sky up above a blue, that's so sad
Trees screaming and swaying
so violently mad
That road may be easier, going downhill
but the suffering and noise, I hear it still
I'll go for the high road, I think that I should
Over hills very tall but for goodness, they stood
An abundance of energy now is spent well
on kindness and optimism, this I could tell
The buckets were full of love and compassion
to give to the needing, a large daily ration
There were moments of pride, lifting me tall
and the River, a creek
so very small
The sky was a blue so happy and bright
The trees in full bloom, of gladness and light
I know where I am now
I am with me
I'm on my way up with knowledge, I'll be
To choose the high road and encourage my mind
To be all I can be
Leave the low road behind.
