I Am Wisteria

Welcome, welcome my dear friends!
Come join me in my bower.
Lavender, lovely and luscious am I,
A most seductive flower.

My pendulous blooms they dangle,
Like grapes upon a vine.
Clusters of purple decorously draping,
A gazebo or fence line.

Come imbibe my heady fragrance,
As it wends through the warm Spring air.
Let my perfume embrace you,
Let it take away your cares.

Lavish me with sunshine bright,
Refresh me with abundant rain.
I am strong, wild, a free spirit,
Wisteria growing unrestrained.

Wisteria means welcome.

Kim, this is a delight--a picture perfect description, rendered in fine poetic form, of a wisteria. I happen to have one, and it's the queen of my garden. Thank you!

This is great. There are a couple of wisteria vines on the fence of the house I grew up in. They are beautiful when in bloom. But they are currently smothering out a couple of nearby trees because they've not been kept in check. Wisteria runs wild! Congrats on the win too, it seems.

Yes, wisteria can wreak havoc with other plants and trees, but it sure is beautiful. Thank you for commenting, Preston.
