I Am Who I Am
I sit here reminiscing
hoping friends will all agree.
That whoever else I coulda been,
I ended up as me!
I’m retired now, in decent shape.
I hope that’s how things stay.
I know that’s wishful thinking though
cause I’ve seen my better day!
I have so many wistful memories
of the years that’s passed me by.
I can’t remember everything,
but, I sure am gonna try!
Most years were quite productive.
But, there were times that wasn’t true!
Those times I wish I could erase!
Of course, that’s something I can’t do!
I’ve analyzed the roads I’ve traveled.
Considering where I am right now,
I know I'm at this point in time
but, I’m still not certain how!
Consequently, I'm the person that I am.
That is who I am today.
I’m happy how my life is now,
so, I hope that’s how things stay!
Accept me as you find me.
That’s all I’ve got to say!
“If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it”
and things will be okay!
That’s a brief synopsis
of how it is I'm me!
So good, bad, or indifferent
that’s the way it’s gotta be!
