I Am Sunshine,I Am Rain

I am the sunshine
I am the rain,
I am the pleasure
I am the pain!

Angry young man,
I am your last puff
of the day's first cigarette,
I am your first sip of life
from the golden peg!

Young lady,
I am your first kiss-
your ornamental love bites
which you touch,adore
and share with the mirror!

I am the teardrops
silently flowing down 
the cheeks of a mother,
I am the emphatic joy
of a man,who has just
become a father!

I am the first gush of air
into the lungs of a newborn,
I am the last grasping breath
of a helpless,drowning man!

I am the dream,
that of a martyr
lost ,grounded and never to fly-
I am the National Flag
flying high in the blue sky!

I am all these,present everywhere
may be a little more or less,
I am even in all your hearts
search and you will get my trace!

Andrea Dietrich July 8, 2013 at 7:01 AM third time rereading this one. Do you know I am pretty sure I have read every one of your poems, kash? I miss the old days when we first met and we were reading all each other's poems. Too bad you don't come here as much as before. Everything changes!

Andrea Dietrich August 11, 2011 at 11:01 PM ok, here is a good place to talk. that poem you just asked me about. I have to tell you its history. Actually it's not a new one but revised from one I wrote a long time ago. It is using blank verse, which means no rhyme necessarily, but all done in iambic pentameter, same meter of a sonnet. It's a story that I DREAMED and when I awoke from the dream, I created the ending for it. I had a second cousin that was VERY cute and I only met him twice in my teen years. So I made him be the "character" of my poem!!
