I Am Scared But Not Afraid

I have to open up more and let people in
I realized not everyone
I associate with has plans of hurting me
Some people are only simply interested in dialogue
But I have been hurt so many times I am insecure
About even thinking of trusting anyone at this stage
I decided to lock all my feelings in a cage
Overwhelmed by emotions and rage
It is eventually going to be difficult to turn this page
Deep down I know I have to one day l
Let someone in because being alone
In this cold world is harsh to oneself

You won't get very far in life without trust, Leo, so treat those who have wronged you as lessons learned, then you will remember the warning signs. A heartfelt piece, well written. Regards, Viv
