I Am Not Sophisticated Enough To Wear Black

I am not sophisticated enough to wear black Sure I can look at it from a distance I can put tiny touches of it in my art But I am not sleek or classy or elegant Black is that I am not mysteriously beautiful Black is I am not presidential like black. I am not polished or patent-leather. I am not silk or satin. Certainly not black Sure black and white I can do Hounds tooth checks, sure. But piano black? Gloss black? Sleek black? You are barking up the wrong dog.

Black is hot in La, Hollywoid, too. I love Houndstooth. Presidents wear navy blue I think? The SC judges wear black.boubou I look awful in black. Panagiota

I wear it only if there is nothing orange, turquoise, or paisley clean.

ha! this is funny to me, caren, because black is the uniform for new yorkers, most of whom are not necessarily "sleek or classy or elegant." i wear a lot of black and am certainly none of those things! (i enjoyed your poem, though...)
