I Am Not Ignoring You
All alone in the middle of a crowd
and I like it
Because no one here can control the way I feel
I just tune them out -
and go about —
living life -
which ever way I will
No emotion or thought that I owe anyone
Those days have since faded to dust
Now I only give what I have to-
I only connect when I must
So Don’t expect to get a rise out of me
By pushing the buttons of my past
I’m disconnected from your society
I no longer fit any social cast
No more are others capable
Of deciding the directions that I choose
It’s not that I don’t care -
I just don’t care
I’m tired of meeting everyone else’s needs
I’ve given up trying to please the unpleasant
Who I tried to please for so many years
Their voices are as whispers in the forest
Which fall deaf upon my heart
And silent to my ears
All my life I served -
giving as I was taught to do
But now the time has come
— to live my life in whichever way I choose
So it’s not that I’m ignoring you
I’m just ignoring you
As I go about living life my way
— doing what I wanna do
No longer caring what others say
