I Am Not a Morning Person

Coffee goes on before one word is said
Hopefully way after dawn.
I am not a morning person so don't go where 
Kings won't tread
Or you'll learn what it means when the Queen of
Hearts says off with your head.
This is my quiet time. Be gone!

There really is nothing to dread
Just hang on.

My mind is dead.
It needs coffee so I can understand all this 
Jargon.

Let me wake up with out being put upon.

Andrea Dietrich November 10, 2018 at 6:05 PM that is a most interesting approach to villanelle and the title was so catchy for me because I identify with it. I don't know how old you are, but hopefully you won't become like me - a night owl whose body will not let her sleep much past 7 a.m anymore. And i have to take pills just to keep myself from waking up during the night Oh how i long for my youthful days when naps were even a possibiity! Bette Bavington November 10, 2018 at 7:02 PM I am 64 years old with lots of children. I am glad you can identify. I am not much of a night owl. I had to get up to get my children off to school. Plus later on I had to get up in the middle of the night to go to work. Now that I am retired I go to bed at a descent time and wake up when I am ready. Except when I am taking care of my elderly father. Then it is when his last medication is given for the day.
