I Am An Immigrant
I have a harsh past but a bright future
I have seen death upon my eyes
and felt the need of nurture
I have been surrounded by lies
that have covered nothing but the truth
I was blind and foolish
throughout my ages of youth
I am an immigrant
With a dream to be successful
But how can I accomplish this
without it being stressful
I don’t need pity nor to be disrespected
Nor do I need the feeling of being neglected
I have came a long way for a better future
So expect me to go further
I am an Immigrant
In fear of being deported
In fear of not having a future because of my status
In fear of not being supported
In fear of my future becoming a stratus
What happened to “Freedom for All”
Did we really just let that fall?
This nation has a dark past
Now, how much longer will it last?
Looking for violence is not the answer
Therefor, we can’t let it spread like cancer
We must rise together and let our voices alter
We must stand together so we don’t falter
We must set an example so the mistakes that impact us today
don’t impact our young loved ones tomorrow
I am an immigrant with a dream
A dream for peace
A dream for a future
And a dream for a better life.
