So I have been told by a drunk does he own a pair of shoes? has he ever walked in another's? mean and grouchy unkind to falling leaves what dreams were stolen was he the thief or victim robbed? or does whiskey make him dumb? and numb narrow is the hateful mind who sold his dignity a silver coin for naught there he sits in the first church pew Jesus sees his Judas ways cries and forgives his plays the elevator though goes only down he will burn in hell listening forever to the sounds of my bad poetry

Cleverly composed with a fine sense of humour! I like the way you perceive things, Arthur.. Sometimes, there's no need to take things seriously.. A FAV. for me! You are a great poet for those who appreciate Poetry intertwined with Humanity.. Best regards.

Enjoyed reading, Arthur, I do believe in my Lord and His Son... and He does forgive if you're sincere and repent..Jesus knew that Judas was going to betray him , but still loved him...

Powerfully penned Art, makes me so glad I'm not religious .I've seen so much bigotry - just because someone goes to church doesn't mean they have Christian principles - often far from it. I thought the title could refer to me to lol :-) hugs

- Maybe whiskey make him honest, Arthur (?) - Heaven and hell are here on earth - a physical hell and constant eternal pain for many people - A excellent poem - I wish you and your family a happy Christmas :) - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

A powerful poem, Arthur! Sitting in the first pew at church doesn't mean a person is spiritual or compassionate. While I believe God does forgive those who are truly contrite, I doubt the individual you described so well in your poem knows the meaning of "love thy neighbor." There's a strong message here and a lesson to be learned for some. Hugs, Carolyn
