I Am

I am different, so go ahead and laugh.
I wonder what life would have been like had I not wondered from the path.
I hear the tears falling from those you think are happy.
I see through your beautiful glass mask, and it’s not pretty.
I want to be able to love.
I am different, so go ahead and laugh.

I pretend that everything will be perfect.
I feel like everything is so far away, but it’s not.
I touch the energies of the full moon in the night sky.
I worry that the man in my dreams isn’t real.
I cry for those who take a razor to their heart.
I am different, so go ahead and laugh.

I understand that your pain is real.
I say things I mean, but wish I never said.
I dream of your face, but more of your heart.
I try desperately to love, but I can’t.
I hope for everything that I can’t have.
I am different, so go ahead and laugh.

this is an amazingly honest and beautiful write. it is often good to be different. I always felt that way, especially in my younger days. it seems you have a great capacity for love, but maybe are afraid of getting hurt. I wish you all you are wishing for yourself. keep writing and reach for the stars. dreams do come true. thanks so much for your cute comment on my dessert poem : )). love, shar
