Hysteria Encourages Her

Sheila is thirteen
So everything is worst scenario
Woe is me
Consistent melodrama

No one likes me
Everyone hates me
This pimple is the size of a barn
Hashtag I am a failure

We all tried to encourage her
Especially me
I am her grandma
This is my job

We could not get her out of this thirteen-year-old-girl mode.
No matter what.
I am ugly! Sheila whined.
Hysteria, her hamster gave her the thumbs up.

She stared for about two seconds
Then we all started laughing
And it was over
Hysteria always knows what to do.

Always difficult to know how to approach a thirteen-year-old's latest crisis. But, I always know when this one passes, another one is on the horizon.

In teenage years, life can look overly bleak. I shredded my diary from back then…too negative. Not the person I wanted to be. Still it made me see my face in a mirror so it was a bit helpful.
