Hush

My brain ticks all night long
Keeping me awake
I wish it would grant me a repreive
I crave the silence
The slide into oblivion
The dreams that guide me
And the hope for a better tomorrow
Instead there are thoughts
Best left in the dark
Hatred that knows no bounds
And wounds that will not heal
A past that haunts me
And follows without rest
I need a new dawn
Without a sleepless night
A dream of sweet peace
Instead of pain and blight
