Hurt Alert

Is it not possible or even probable
that you and I, and millions more,
have risen from the ash-heaps of
a deep and painful hurt?

Do you not know, as do I, of at least
one who has been deeply wounded but
has been healed and no longer hurts
others but aids in the healing of 
others?

More often than we realize,
hurt people will hurt other people.
Let us beware of the hurt alert.

The sequence is on auto pilot, and
we did not program the functionality,
nor did we push the on button. Nevertheless,
awareness of its presence obligates us to 
make the effort to shut off the button,
reprogram, and reset a new plan of action.

We mortals do not have the luxury of
automatic fixtures. But if we pursue and
acquire the knowledge and the Grace of God,
we will have the ingredients that heal our
hurt and stop hurting others.

The book was entitled, Hurt People Hurt People.
