Humble Questions
I was in the grocery store the other day
The man who checked out ahead of me
Was a gentleman who held the door
He could see that I had a walker
And that some assistance might be appreciated
I was glad for the help and I said thank you
But that was only half the story
You see, sometimes my feet seem glued to the floor
To lift them up as difficult as lifting boulders
This is what happened that day
This gentleman, well his intentions were good
He started pulling on the Walker thinking it was stuck
Instead of my feet
So I nearly lost my balance and almost ended on the floor
I wasn't mad, I knew he meant well.
Possibly this story will help explain my next question.
Sometimes those who would offer assistance
Can misunderstand what kindness is needed
Can lead in a direction I don't wish to follow
I'm sure that those of you who've offered to help
Have my best interest at heart
Perhaps a question or two
To what goal do you now lead?
You see, there's certain things I won't compromise
So if I can ask humbly
What do you see as the end of the story?
