Trouble is brewing Nations are warring Society is disintegrating We all need to start praying Humanity has deserted this land The sacrifice of the self for the whole A now defunct creed Injustice and avarice abound Where the basket is never full And envy gnaws the flesh To the bone The mentality and ethics of man Has been corrupted by hypocrisy We say what we do not believe And live according to no creed Celebrity is our greatest aim A token of modern intellectual backwardness And a symbol of short term fame A dismal shame Those in power disappoint At every turn The trodden wish to rebel But are a dysfunctional crew Self-preservation is the individual's Badge of honour His pinnacle of achievement For you cannot rely on anyone to help you The hearts of men are Filled with selfish aims Where money is best And brotherhood is worthless Immediate and individual gains Have numbed man's feelings Reducing each person’s worth To monetary terms The brotherhood of society Is a pawn used only for advancement Advocated only by snake oil men Who lavish praise when Censure would do Insincerity usurps Moral grounding and social consciousness An earthly heaven Peopled by god-men With no ethereal grounding Emboldens man King of his hill is he Faith in the religion of here till infinity Blinkers objectivity The race to conquer all is Man’s new philosophy The new measure of posterity And all knowing god Naught but a banner showcasing Headline news A heady enthusiasm for fame Creates comical spectacles Eroding man’s credibility At odds with the effervescent praise That litters his reality The new soul of man Is the balance of his account The route to his advancement Through a social pyramid Where individuality reigns supreme
