Human Rights and Pursuit of Peace
Men are all born the same, with equal worth,
Irrespective of where they greeted earth,
With right to live their life, the right to breathe,
The right to learn freely, the right to weave
Their own tender dreams out of their free will,
To mount on hill tops or to stand up still.
Men are born free, with no chains them to hold,
Their stories of life waiting to unfold,
The right to speak the truth, the right to pray,
To opt for their path and elect their way,
The right to freely voice their opinion
And associate themselves in unions.
Oft, shadows slowly stretch and darkness creeps
When rights are cajoled or driven to sleep,
When bawling bellies bite and voices fade,
When worries and wrath usher men in shade
When seeds of hate silently start to sprout
When calm voices suddenly start to shout.
Then germs of war are set and bombs explode,
With vast infrastructure lost down the road,
Children moaning in darkness with despair,
Just left to themselves without any care
After saddening loss of their father,
The stressful fate of their distressed mother.
Yet peace is not an impossible dream,
Like stars in the sky, it silently gleams,
It unfolds with kindness, gentle and true,
With a helping hand and positive view,
Respect for others and belief in peace,
Above all, keeping one`s words without cease.
Real forgiveness offered may mend wounds,
Offer chance to start anew, sing new tunes,
Build all badly battered bits left behind,
Shape afresh a bright future for mankind,
Protect the lawful rights for every soul
And at end, make the world a peaceful whole.
Peace is not just absence of frightful war,
It is real justice, with open door,
A warm world where diverse voices can thrive
And every heart can truly be alive,
Where basic human rights are not vain words,
But a truth that will not ever be blurred.
