How To Listen

How To Listen

Always wanted to talk to you mom and dad,
I never knew what to say.
I tried to listen to your advice,
But couldn't pay attention anyway.
Wish i could've been better to you
But bitterness was just my way.
I'm sorry, though, just so you know,
I never meant it in an evil way.

We never knew how to speak to one another,
We were never good at listenin'
But somewhere between the lines we read
We found what we'd been missin'

Remember when i cried was haunted?
Upset cause i couldn't be who i wanted
And didn't like who i was.
You just sighed, i think because,
Your life didn't turn out your way
So you had nothing to say.

We never knew how to speak to one another,
We were never good at listenin'
But somewhere between the lines we read
We found what we'd been missin'

Then there is my sis named Chris,
We barely talked and often yelled.
But when my nieces born that day
By me they were loved and held.
An i wasn't always there for B&T..
For that i'm forever sorry.

But that was then and this is now.
We are all doing the best we know how.
An i think if we stick together for a whie
This life journey won't seem like too many miles.
