How To Commune With Cats
Cats do not listen to our words,
dogs are sound-hounds
but cats heed not
articulate soundings.
Big cats hunt by adjustments
in the fear quotient.
The frozen electricity of hesitancy
felt by searching whiskers as they stalk,
domesticated tabby-cats also,
but mostly they stalk us.
When a cat looks at you intently
it wishes you to know what it wants
without speaking to or handling it.
You don’t have permission yet.
If you do sense that need
it will love you by touching you,
grateful for your understanding.
