How Quaint It Is

it's like a norman rockwell photo this quaint little town not far away where white picket fences stand banners and flags wave in the breeze every lamppost tells a tale of their proud, unforgotten heroes faces and stories reclaimed on the same streets they once roamed it's a happy little town that bleeds in red, white and blue where patriotism still stands on the edge of every street of this proud american town remembering those who gave their life so they could proclaim their freedom

Really like this one. Inspiring and it reminded me of vacation at Grandma's on Cape Cod when I was young. Thankyou for the smile.

Hi Sandra, What a beautiful tribute to the small towns of America - the sacrifices they have made - they are the backbone of our country. Can see Norman Rockwell in this wonderful poem. Congratulations my friend.

America is made up of many small towns like the one you describe so tenderly in your lovely ode, Patricia. I also admire the structure of your poem -- fairly short lines and a great flow. Congratulations on a second-place win! Best wishes, Carolyn

Thank you so much Carolyn for inspiring me to write a form i have never written before and for the honor of a win...your words brought a smile, my poems usually have even shorter lines but for this form they needed to be slightly longer than my norm ... hugs Sandy

Sandra, I like your poem's town. Reminds me of a song..,'Ain't that America, home of the free, yeah Little pink houses for you and me, ooo, ooo yeah' -J. Mellencamp - Pink Houses

Sounds like a beautiful little town, one that I would love to visit someday. It reminds me of my hometown. Parades for Memorial Day and 4th of July, decorating your bike and following the parade through town. Being the first at the news agency(the local newspaper store) for the latest comic books, playing sandlot baseball in a vacant lot in the neighborhood. This was fantastic Sandy, you have painted a poetic picture that rivals Norman Rockwell.

Thank you Chris... m night shyamalan seems to love the town, he has filmed a few times there...i used to take part in the halloween parade when my kids were little... they loved it... it sounds like you grew up in the same sort of town...my kids remember the variety store with the penny candy that we would always walk to.... hugs

Thank you....it had to be a poem on patriotism or something like that... this town has every military member ever lost with roots to the area displayed on every lamppost...their faces, names, birth and death dates with how they died...what is there to debate? hugs
