How Poetry's Relayed
Picture a baby's subtle smile;
or a feather tickling your cheek.
And that first time you ran a mile:
heard the laughs of a chuckling creek.
Feel the heartbreak of solitude:
or the weight of a single tear.
Face a degrading platitude,
or paralyzing bouts of fear.
Envision a golden sunrise
glinting off the wings of a dove.
And that spark in an infant's eyes;
or memories of your first love.
Watch as Luna's celestial light
gilds the mountaintops capped in snow.
And the twinkling stars pierce the night;
or a rising tide, ebb, and flow.
What caused your heart to break or melt
among the emotions conveyed?
Now, pen to paper, how it felt:
that's how poetry gets relayed.
