How Much Love Do We Lose

Sometimes defend sometimes accused Memory details the excuses used Always the hardship either temper or tears Always heart ache the victim of fears The blindness we use is a terrible excuse The worst thing given for self abuse The lies, the hiding, the not providing The shame, the game, the celibate reign The past revealing awful thoughts The trust once present now the lost The constant reminder of a broken heart The hurt not healing though hardly fought The constant lying of a cheating spouse The everyday deeds of a dirty louse The absence, the silence, while present shown The arrogance, the vengeance, that hate has grown Evidence lingers where once unknown Yet waiting desires though now alone

Bad things happen for sad reasons, but love and forgiveness changes everything, if there’s a spark of romance have that last dance… Belle

Wow! A tough subject to tackle in Poetic form, but you've done well. Love the internal rhyme. We hide what we can face. It's sometimes easier... as they say... ignorance is bliss, but then again, how can we grow?

Yes, you nailed it with this one. Excuses, excuses, excuses, never make up for the one that cheats. Buy we humans like to reason up excuses to try to excuse when we are doing wrong. Your poem this couplet nails it-- " The constant lying of a cheating spouse The everyday deeds of a dirty louse".. A fav. another dark poetry scores. God bless.

When a spouse cheats there are always 100 reasons why that person chose to stray. However, No excuse is ever a good enough reason to break your vows made before God. Talk it out with God then talk it over with your spouse and then see a marriage counselor. Good piece4 here. God Bless, JB

Well, sometimes relationship go sour for one reason or another. It takes two to make a marriage and it is never just one person's fault. Always some reason/s why behind the divorce on both sides. Thanks for sharing. Sara

The absence, the silence, while present shown The arrogance, the vengeance, that hate has grown--a perfect description of why love cannot sustain in such an environment. The ending line says it all.
