How Many Worlds Are In a Raindrop
The masses---preoccupied and staring blankly about,
each one with their own agenda,
not knowing how or why the sun shines
or the rain comes.
Only knowing that the rent is due
or the dog pen needs that hole repaired.
Taken over by apathy we tete a tete
in ever widening circles of bland conversation,
politely laughing behind the back at each other.
Not knowing that we are all guilty of the same things
and are all praised from time to time for that which
by itself is utterly ridiculous, but in the light of each
to the other perceived to be grandiose by comparison.
Yet we manage to survive.
We develop a faith borne by trial and error.
We reinforce each other with “thank you’s”
and verbal lubricants meant to detract from the fact
that we “hunt and peck” with the least of the
creatures of Mother Nature.
We all come from the same thing.
How many worlds spin in a single raindrop?
How many entities go through their whole lifetime
while an ice cube melts and evaporates?
Each tiny world filled with tiny somethings living- - -
Each tiny something thinking that god is the inhabitant
of the next larger world - - -
Or is God the creator of every world within every world
and He is the being at the top of the list?
