How Many Times

HOW MANY TIMES

How many times have I been told to think outside the box
When what they really meant
Was to lock myself in a box
And if they had to, they would gladly pay the rent.

How many times have I been towed towards perfection
But ended up just as imperfect
Thoughts borne out of great obstruction
When the world questions, will I ever be correct?

How many times have I been toyed, that I can be all I wanna be
The truth half-told can really be destructive
The times I believed, I was led to see
The path so strict; where art thou creatiVIty?

How many times have I been stowed away
Locked inside a box of rules
Hoping one day, to find my way
To the land, where I rule.
