How Many Americans Flee

I wonder how many Americans flee each year
To other countries for a better way of life?
Taking their children, fleeing in the night,
Willing to risk their lives out of an awful fear
Their children will be conscripted by a cartel
Where their lives will become a living hell?

I wonder how many Americans flee each year
Desperately putting their lives in mortal danger
Leaving behind everything they own, and more,
Including extended family, which they hold dear
Trying to sneak into another country to be free
So they can have opportunity, peace and liberty?

I wonder how many Americans flee each year
Crossing border after border to find a safe place
With nothing but the clothes on their backs?
None, I should think, for life here is in high gear
In the grand scheme of things, we are so blessed,
Head and shoulders above all, and I do not jest!

I have a patch over the eye they worked on and I have macular degerneration in the other eye so everyting is distorted. I hope this makes sense.

Consider those who fled violence in Guatamala only to have their children shot to death in the USA. We all need to focus on changing "us against them" attitudes! Aloha! But, we must not allow the actions of a very, very few color the overall picture and cloud what we have that is right and good here in the U.S.A. Keep in mind that they know how good they have it! And, let's begin with those who would tear down our government, the insurrectionists and right wing conspiracy theorists who are riling up fringe groups of angry militia groups. We can urge the Gaetzes, the Greenes, and the Trumps to take a hike, too!
