How Many

How many are here?
Slip sliding through the words
hiding between the laughter and the tears,
the years of sadness, loss, love, its fear and promise and hope?
The poets and the writers of narrative and prose
revealing and leaving messages to be deciphered
from the heart and soul of inspiration shared.

How many?
Seeking release and freedom from their bonds
of love unexpressed and burdened hurt gnawing within
and loneliness unfilled and unseen, unnoticed by the outside world.
The word magicians, the artists painting pictures and images
exuding deep inner emotions and feelings too often hidden
burning the body, mind and soul into extinction.

How many are here?
Come one, come all, uncounted
to the open fields of time at last released,
of vision and images, of hopes and dreams,
of promises yet to keep and be revealed
here.

How many indeed, D.M Babbit...and what drives a soul to pick up the pen in earnest? Perhaps, sometimes, it could be the most desperate tragedy or personal grief...perhaps guilt, remorse -- or in praise of some worthy act or crowning glory? Or could it be, that, as poets, we can see not only the evil and suffering -- but the great beauty of it all!! My very best regards, B.M Babbit...you have given me cause to think a little this long evening. :) john
