How Long Blues

I still love a lovely sunrise.
I'm still struck by a rising full moon.
But bring outraged by the actions
of my fellow humans, I think,
I've just been around here way too long.

I still love the early morning silence.
I'm still struck by the moments before a storm.
But being surprised by the stupidity
of our esteemed leaders, I think,
I've just been around here way too long.

I still love a new piece of music.
I'm still struck by new visions of art.
But being appalled by our capacity to enjoy
the blood shed of other humans, I think,
I've just been around here far too long.
