How It Feels
Body breaking down
But still one must push on
Worth is defined by how hard you work
And the people you please
From lazy meaningless days
To days of working the hardest
How does it feel to be needed?
It's like a rush
Greater than any drug
From years of isolation
To the forefront of the conversation
Even a loser can win
So when you want to slow down
When you're broken
When the tears are flowing
You know there's no slowing down
Because slowing down
Means being forgotten
And maybe in the end none of it's worth it
When self-worth comes from what others think
Blink and the acclaim is gone
So you push harder and harder
Even as people become concerned
Even as it consumes every facet of your life
But as hard as it is
For a socially awkward guy
Every second is a miracle
No matter how hard you're breaking down
No matter how much it hurts
No matter how much sleep you lose
Because if you don't have this
What do you really have?
