How Have I Decieved You

How have I deceived you? You who walk as light as cornfields, smiling somewhere after August. You who shimmer like the heartbeat bloodline Oklahoma heatwaves one can almost hear. You who sing September’s song of summer rending twilight’s ending scandalous ablaze. How have I deceived you? You who walk, and sing, and shimmer? I who read your fields, I who praise your heartbeat, I who drop my work and listen far to quickly when your rising music calls. How have I deceived you, and how shall I make it clear?
