How far we've gone

Look how far we've come
A month ago, I marked nine years,
since I picked up a pen and decided to put down
all the unsaid words that were bottled up

Turns out I had a lot bottled up
While kids my age were trying to pick the sail of the bottle,
I was sinking mine even further
Nothing to set sail on these parts

It's been nine years, and I haven't stopped
As I try to use my words to sail to those parts
Maybe I'll see that ship lost somewhere in
And all its lost treasures

I've weathered storms to still waters
Only to crave the storms again
Cause that way, I had something to fight
Nowadays, all I have to fight is myself

I've even lost count of the words
Grammarly says I'm at a million now,
But that's just the years it's been around, four
I've got poems far beyond that, and then some more

Look how far we've come
From wondering if I'm making an impact
To being the impact in itself
To this far and beyond, we give thanks
