How Do You Mend A Broken Heart
How Do You Mend A Broken Heart
*
I stand by your grave
Hands clasped before me
My breathing shallow
My legs unsteady
I summon every
Ounce of strength
To keep from falling
*
All the days to come
Without you
All the nights to come
Without you
How will my heart
Endure your loss
*
In hospice
We reminisced
You were comforted
By the memories
Of our time together
You were proud of our
Rip-roaring compatibility
And our never going
To bed angry
*
You held my hand
And said
Fall in love again
*
My smile was faint
I said
No woman is interested
In a man with a broken heart
*
With a mischievous smile
You said
She is
When she knows
She is the one
Who can mend it.
